Blog-Post-How-to-study-Potassium-ion-Channels
As a scientist doing research in ion channel and transporter, you know how difficult it can be to perform drug screening. Non-radioactive Rubidium Efflux assay technology is one of the top screening methods to help you with your research. This label-free micro-sampling technology in laboratories,...
Proteomics
Imagine analyzing thousands of protein samples in a fraction of the time and with higher accuracy than ever before. With the power of automation in proteomics sample preparation for mass spectrometry (MS), this dream is a reality! What is Proteomics? Proteomics refers to the large-scale study of proteins within a biological system.
heavy metal blog
Dangers of heavy metals The danger of heavy metals is greater since they are not chemically or biologically degradable. Once released, they can remain in the environment for hundreds of years. Toxic metals are normally present in very small amounts in our body, but continuous exposure can cause a...
ISHI
The 33rd International Symposium of Human Identification (ISHI) is occurring this autumn in National Harbor near Washington DC. Aurora Biomed will be there to demonstrate innovations in lab automation. ISHI is one of the largest international conferences. Last year, in 2021 1,300 people attended rep...
A cartoon of a doctor looking at a computer. Kidneys and durgs are in the background. This is to represent drug testing using urine samples. This process, drug testing can be automated.
On June 26th, 2022, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) released the 2022 World Drug Report claiming that about 284,000,000 people worldwide aged 15–64 had used a drug within the last 12 months in 2020, increased by 26% over the previous decade. Why automate drug testing? As drug use increases, the demand for drug testing also increases.
SAEK
Every 62 seconds, an American is subjected to sexual assault (source: Rainn Statistics). Yet only few cases are solved because of the backlogs of untested sexual assault kits. Processing these kits will bring justice for victims. In order to reduce the backlog of SAEKs some states are outsourcing this work to the third party laboratories to run the tests manually. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work.
A light spectrum with ions from a channel protein that produce an absorbance band. This light that has gone through elements of an ion channel can then be identified. Text on the image says Label-free technology. The background is outerspace. Feature image from the blog post Ion channel label-free technology: What is it?
In 2000, Aurora Biomed became the first company that developed a non-radioactive, label-free technology for high throughput screening of ion channel and transporter targets. Aurora’s ion channel reader (ICR) technology has been rapidly incorporated into many pharmaceutical drug discovery pipelines...
Mobile testing for COVID-19. The bCUBE unit can test for COVID-19 or test immunity to COVID-19 in remote locations. Image of a COVID-19 virus on the left. On the right is a person holding the bCUBE system in the palm of one hand. The text reads COVID-19 mobile molecular testing.
There are a few problems with using PCR as a molecular tests. These problems include cost, wait times, and testing location. The new bCUBETM system solves these problems, while also providing a mobile solution. Thanks to PCR testing, the first case of the 2019 novel coronavirus in North America w...
