Precise measurement and standardization of nucleic acid samples are essential for next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation. The manual pipetting of samples and diluents can be exceptionally laborious and susceptible to mistakes. Insufficient uniformity in pipetting volume can cause unequal sequencing data coverage. The automation of NGS normalization and quantification offers an efficient method for achieving consistent, highly accurate outcomes while reducing the need for manual intervention.
Our internal validation results demonstrated that the automated PCR amplification setup yielded results comparable in consistency to manual procedures. Additionally, the VERSA system exhibited equivalent or superior levels of repeatability and reproducibility compared to manual setup for PCR amplification. Moreover, the automated approach mitigates the risk of human error and reduces the potential for repetitive strain injuries associated with manual pipetting. This reduction in operator hands-on time not only enhances the efficiency of the laboratory process but also grants laboratory personnel the flexibility to engage in higher-level laboratory activities.
